If you want to go somewhere that has amazing food, Belgium should be at the top of that list. Today I am going to share some amazing food, to partake in Belgium. If you haven’t had any of these items, well you are missing out.

Mussels and Fries
Mussels is an incredible dish in Belgium. There are different a variety of way to cook them, the most interesting is Beer. They taste incredible with the Beer and Belgium takes it a step further! Many establishments will use local beers, which gives the mussels a distinct flavor profile. If you like mussels it is possible to try a different kind in each city and region.
Fries are Belgian. I know many people believe they are French, those people are wrong. I’ve had fries in France, they aren’t that good. Fries in Belgium though are too incredible to describe in words.
You can eat them with a variety of sauces or you can eat them plain. I personally think the sauce takes away from the greatness of Belgian fries.
Either way you cannot go to Belgium and not try mussels and fries! You will thank me later!

Waffles
We have a thing called “Belgian Waffles” in America. You have been lied to. The garbage that is passed off as Belgian waffles is a gross deception. There is nothing I have tasted in America that I can compare real Belgian waffles to.
Here is what you need to know. There are 3 kinds of waffles. Brussels, Liège, and stroopwafel
Brussels waffles are rectangular. These are light and crispy. Normally they are severed with powered sugar. Or you can get fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate spread. You normally find them in restaurants.
Liege are roundish. These are rich, sweeter, and more dense. You can sold by street vendors.
Stroopwafels are a waffle type cookie.
I want to point out that in Belgium Waffles are normally a snack or desert, whereas in America, they can be eaten for breakfast.
Beer
If you are someone who has ever said, “I don’t like beer.”
Then I can tell you, you just haven’t found the right beer.
UNESCO inscribe Belgian Beer as part of their cultural heritage. I came to Belgium knowing I wanted to try beer, and I have not been disappointed. Belgium has over 800 different kinds of beer, in a variety of styles and fermentation methods.
Beer is a drink in the U.S, but it is an ART in Belgium. If you want to start a Beer Jouney I’d recommend starting with the sweeter fruit beers and lambics, or the softer white beers. From there move to blonds, ambers and dark ales.
Noses of Ghent
This a bonus I am offering for you guys. This is a gummy treat. The normal ones are purple and taste like cough syrup, but they are the greatest things ever, and I would recommend trying them. Maybe a different flavor!
