Story Time #1:
I brainstormed for a month before I launched my YouTube channel. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do thus I created a bunch of ideas, then B, C, and D ideas, in case the A ones didn’t work out.
One idea that stuck, and that I’m most proud of is my How to do YouTube Series. In preparation to launching my channel I stalked all the YouTube help channels, but the content wasn’t what I was looking for.
They offered good insight and advice, but I wanted to know what a new YouTuber went through. I had so many questions, and I didn’t want the complaisant answers.
I think everyone knows that if you go into YouTube you first need to love making videos. If you want to turn your channel into an income stream that it is going to involve more than just uploading a video.
However if you want to create a business plan, then you need to know what to aim for, and how to trouble shoot problems. This information is easy enough to find if you’re willing to give money for it. I however am not. I don’t think there are secrets or shortcuts to success.
Anything worth knowing you can learn and teach yourself provided that you are willing to do the work. I went into YouTube knowing the basics and I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned from each one and I wouldn’t change a thing!
My channel shows an evolution of my improvement: thumbnails, comfort in front of the camera, editing, and so much more.
Story #2:
I read the an active YouTuber can expect traction after being on the platform for 4 months. That is when the algorithm will pick up your channel, and from my experience that has proven true.
The first 3 months on my channel were stagnant, but I pushed through the doubt, and fear, and made videos. Then January happened and it was a good month for me. My subs doubled, and all my watch time and views quadrupled.
However I face a new problem now. Sub4Subs
Sub4Subs Opinion
I am a YouTube Creator.
That means I’m a horrible subscribers. If you want a loyal fan base, that is going to follow your journey, then you want to look for YouTube spectators.
Anyone who is a creator is going to have a limit amount of time that they will be willing to spare to watch other channels. Even then I’d bet the channels they are watching are in their niche, critiquers, or for research.
If I like your channel then I will probably subscribe, but if I haven’t been an active member of your community, then I unsub, which defeats the purpose.
Analyitics
One of the things I’ve learned is that a lot of people cheat. No one likes a cheater. Anyone who does YouTube at one point you are going to learn about analytics, particular views to subs ratio which is 10-15%.
If you have a low view to sub ration that’s only going to hurt you when you apply for sponsors and start looking for brand deal. You may not realize that aside from a sub requirement, there are also engagement rates you’ll have to meet.
Your Goals
We all have a plan and goals for our channel. How someone else runs their channel is none of my business. However I would say that someone who does sub4sub has different goals than me.
I DO NO SUB FOR SUB, OR VIEW FOR VIEW.
If I like a channel, then I will sub and try to be an active member. If I feel I cannot give back to the creator, I will unsubscribe.
I appreciate all the people who want to come on this journey with me. There truly are not words to describe how it feels to know 1: I am not alone and 2: Something I say/do resonates with another person. It is an incredible feeling.
If you want to support me then watch my videos and share my content with your friends and family. Those actions help and support me.
Sub4sub doesn’t. I am not interested! I would appreciate if you are someone who is you’d leave me out of it.
