I discovered a Facebook group called Word Count Millionaires. It’s a group dedicated to writing 1 million words in 365 days. This is a lofty goal for me, and if you do that math, it breaks down to 83,333 words per month, or 2,740 words per day. That is a lot, more than what I achieved during NaNoWriMo.
It seems impossible. However I’m not going to let that stop me. I want to see if I can do it. If I could accomplish this it would be 12 books. If I managed to complete half, I could have 6 books written. The thought makes my head spin.
While I am optimistic and willing to try to achieve this goal, I also am realistic. During NaNo I averaged 1,700 words per day. However that month was very difficult. I did live show on YouTube, instead of recording and editing. I wasn’t working on my blogs, and I hadn’t started marketing or networking at that point.
I made it so my plate was empty, and even still it was difficult. There were days that I knew would be busy so I got up early to get the words in. Sometimes that wasn’t enough and my husband cooked dinner to give me more time. That month was exhausting. While I felt amazing accomplishing my first manuscript, it took all of December to recuperate from it. (I wonder if my pushing myself so hard is what lead to be getting so sick)
Nanowrimo was an incredible experience, but by the end of it I was burned out. I was happy that revision didn’t start up till Jan. If it’s possible I’d like to avoid all of that. My big goal is to aim for 1 million. However reasonably that is something that I think I will have to work up to. That is an achievement I’d like under my belt. Perhaps it will happen this year. However it’s alright if it doesn’t
I’m going to push myself thoughout this year in my writing, because I want to see what I am capable of. Who know I might even surprise myself and surpass my own expectations. Instead of a focused word goal for the next 365 days I have writing projects that I want to focus on, which will move me forward in writing and on word count.
The Writing Projects
Blog
I started this blog the same time as my YouTube, however I ignored it for the first 3 months. Blogging is something that pushes me outside of my comfort zone. It’s not easy for me to share my writing, even blog post. I’m insecure about it. I always feel (insert negative adjective). However with each post I gain a little confidence.
It also helps my writing. I don’t always know what to write, or how to express it. Troubleshooting here improves my writing. I hope by next year I’ll be able to see a difference and improvement.
My goal will be for the next 365 to write on here at the minimum of 3 times per week.
Tumblr
There is a quote that says “If there is a book you want to read but haven’t found, then write it.”
During my writing journey, I used to search the internet for anything that showed the writing process. I never found anything, and it is the reason why I decided to do daily nano vlogs. It was a pain, but it was something I wanted to watch. The same can be said for editing, publishing, etc.
Starting tumblr, which is essentially a second blog add more work on my plate. However I plan for tumblr to be more like a journal. There shouldn’t be formatting, preparing topics in advance, or excessive editing. It will be a laid back place, to share what I’m feeling and my progress during the next steps of my writing journey. Hopefully it will prove useful to other people.
My goal with this is to have fun. I don’t want to worry about deadlines or making pretty post. I want a place to share connect with people, hopefully connect with other writers, and cry and rant.
Short Stories
I’ve never given consequence to short stories. I’ve written a few, but it never occurred to me that I could do anything with them. However I realize if I work on the ones that I’ve written already and add a few more I could have an Anthology
That is an interesting goal. There are a lot of possibilities, maybe I could get that published, release them on WattPad, or even offer them as a lead magnet.
I want to have 12 short stories. More is better but I will start with 12
Outlines
Outlining is a tedious and distracting process. This is one area I want to push myself and thus I have a min goal and a high goal. I want to outline all the book for C.I.S. which there are 5 left. . Depending how that goes I’d also like to outline the stories of my other series. I don’t know which, but outlining 12 books would be great.
Stories
I want to have rough drafts of all the stories in my C.I.S. universe. I believe this is a reasonable goal I will be able to accomplish it. It gives me a month to outline, then one month to write a rough draft. That is enough to keep me very busy.
The Words That Count
Can I do this? I don’t know. There are parts of me that feel I’m not pushing myself hard enough, while I also feel I’m spreading myself too thin. I guess we will see. The best I can do is try, and work on small things before me.
Wish me Luck

Holy cow, you’re ambitious with your goals! I envy your mindset!
And if I were a star, I’d be a neutron star — because I’m super dense.
