What songs have you completely memorized?
I have the entire album of the Little Mermaid Memorized. No I don’t have the excuse that my children love the movie. I do. I have been single along to that soundtrack since I was 3.
What pets did you have while you were growing up?
I had fish, 3 in total. My mother took me to the pet store and I got 2 fish who I named salt and pepper. Pepper hated me so much that he died the next day and I was devastated. (my poor mother) But she took me back to get another fish to replace him. Thus I had Salt and Angel. Those fish were indestructible. They were good fish.
What’s the best single day on the calendar?
My birthday!
What is the most annoying question that people ask you?
Why/how can you speak french?
I want to clarify that intent is important. If people wanted to know why I choose french, or what tools I used to help me learn it, those are legit questions. However I’ve never been in that situation. Those question have always been asked in the context that I shouldn’t be able to.
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Travel and learn.
This doesn’t have to be abroad, just going to a different state or city can be a learning experience.
My cousin who lives in the south went up to visit my mom who lives in the north. When we talked he told me he felt the northerners were rude because they didn’t say Ma’am and Sir. From my perspective I thought ma’am and sir was rude and condescending.
He and I are both Americans and yet there is this cultural difference between us. That is amazing. If you can see that and learn from it, NOT judge it, then I think you will be able to do great things in the world.
What is something that a ton of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
This is a question that can get you into a lot of trouble but I’m going to go there. Harry Potter.
I think it is great when a story speaks to so many people and can help them escape or deal with their real life. I think in our hearts we all strive for that. I don’t know if I will ever write something that will effect someone in a positive way, but I hope that it would.
However I feel a lot of crazies came out with harry potter. Remember when those parents said it was a guide to witch craft and burned the books?! There was alot of negativity that was thrown Rowlings way.
I will never understand the idea of destroying something because you don’t like it.
They say that everyone has a book in them. What would your book be about?
I am currently writing them. I hope you will find them online or in a bookshop near you soon.
There are two types of people in this world. What are the two types?
Left brainers and Right brainers.
I know this has been debunked, but the world in my experience is made up of those uber intellects who make great things, and creative types who make life beautiful.
If you are an overachiever you can also be both!
What is something you are certain you’ll never experience?
Going into space. I have loved science and astronomy since I was a little girl, and for a while I thought of becoming an astronaut. Then I saw Apollo 13, and I decided I didn’t want to die in space.
I think it would be incredible to do, and I hope in my lifetime it is something that becomes commercialized that everyone can do it. However I don’t want to be one of those people. It is just too terrifying.
What stereotype do you completely live up to?
Being loud.
I remember the first time someone said Americans were loud, because I though ‘no we’re not!’
I hate to be the one to break this but DAMN we are SO loud. I think it is because of the extra space back home, but Americans work on another decibel level. It took years for me to even realize this, but I swear whenever I talk to anyone back home on the phone, It’s like we are screaming at each other.
Yeah, I can’t explain it, but that is just our thing. We don’t do it be be rude or obnoxious, but it defiantly happens. It is also hard to break. I’m working on it.
